1. Before filling, remove the downstem and bowl to allow water to flow freely into the beaker base chamber.
2. Pour water gently through the mouthpiece. Most of the water will flow into the beaker chamber. Stop when you feel the water level can cover the downstem slits by 1–2 inches. At the same time, ensure the tree perc chamber has enough water to submerge the percolator slits, but not too much to spill over.
3. Reattach the downstem and bowl and inhale through the mouthpiece(no need to light up). Listen for smooth bubbling sounds and check for unrestricted airflow. If water splashes into your mouth, you’ve added too much—pour out a little and try again.
4. If you prefer more filtration and have big lungs, you can add slightly more water. Just make sure it doesn’t interfere with airflow or splash into your mouth.
